This project involved the complete restoration of a weathered backyard playhouse and the creation of a renewed, long lasting exterior. The original structure had fading paint, worn trim, cracked siding, and shingles that had reached the end of their life. The playhouse was rebuilt with fresh cedar shank roofing, hand cut to match the original character while providing a stronger and more durable finish. All trim pieces were repaired or replaced, then sealed and painted to bring back the bright storybook style that makes the structure stand out.
The wood siding was sanded, patched, repainted, and sealed. Gold accents were added to give the playhouse a warm and finished look that matches the whimsical design. The doors, windows, railings, and support posts were reinforced and brought back to full strength. The entire structure now has a clean, solid, and refreshed appearance with a stable roof that will hold up through every season in southern Minnesota.
This project shows how even an aging backyard structure can look new again with careful carpentry, precision repairs, and detailed painting.
